Lyophilization is a drying method used in many industries for long-term storage and transportation of products. In this method, the water content of the products is frozen and then dehumidified by evaporation under vacuum. In this way, the shelf life of the products is extended and they are stored more easily. However, before using lyophilized products, it may be necessary to convert them back into water. So, how are lyophilized products reconstituted?
Choose a container you will use to reconstitute the lyophilized product and make sure it is hygienic. Wash and dry thoroughly if necessary to ensure the container is clean and dry.
To reconstitute the lyophilized product, add water in the amounts indicated on the package. Usually the correct proportions are indicated on the product. Considering these proportions, add the right amount of water into the container.
After adding water, mix the lyophilized product well. Keep mixing until you get a homogeneous mixture using a spatula or mixer. This ensures that the lyophilized product is completely mixed with water and has a homogeneous consistency.
Allow some time for the lyophilized product to rehydrate. It will usually be sufficient to wait for the time indicated on the product. This time will allow the product to completely absorb the water.
After reconstituting the lyophilized product, it is now ready for use. You can use the product however you want. For example, you can use it in drinks, sauces or other prepared foods.
